Stanley Baptist Church Reopening Phase 3

As of right now, July 5, 2020, our Phase 3 reopening will not change the manner in which we are doing in-person worship or our online worship services. We must still continue the 6-foot social distancing rule, wearing of face masks, hand sanitization, and most importantly keeping services at 50% capacity.

The only possible change would be with the in-person worship and possibly needing another Sunday AM in-person worship service to accommodate people. If we do that, the decision will be made according to attendance over the next week or so and announced on social media and through email. Most likely, another AM service would mean meeting at 9 AM in the sanctuary so that we have ample time between 9 AM and 11 AM service for cleaning and sanitization.

Also, there have been concerns about what we are to do with a COVID-19 case in the church. The process is that the local health department will contact any individuals that have had direct exposure to a person who tests positive for COVID-19. Direct exposure as defined by the CDC, Virginia State Health Department, and our local health department is being within 6 feet of an infected person for a period of 10 minutes or more. In the even there is a positive case and direct exposure has not happened, then the church will undergo a thorough cleaning and disinfecting with EPA and CDC approved cleaning agents (which we do each week already).

Of course, if there are any changes or anything you need to know we will communicate that with you as soon as possible.

Stanley Baptist Church Reopening

In accordance with the “Phase One” reopening plan we are going to offer in-person worship next Sunday (May 24) at 11:00 AM in addition to our on-line option.  During Phase One the following rules are in effect:

No one should come to the in-person service if they:

  • Have a fever

  • Have Covid-19 Symptoms

  • Are otherwise ill
  • Know that they have been exposed to Covid-19 in the past 14 days
  • Are a “high-risk” individual

People in any of these categories are encouraged to participate via the on-line sermon (both audio/video and audio only versions will be available).

We will be practicing “social distancing.”  That means:

  • Stay at least six feet apart

  • Wear a mask

  • Avoid touching your face
  • Disinfect and/or wash hands frequently
  • Avoid coughing or sneezing on people

The six-foot rule does not apply among family members who live together.  Usable seating areas are marked off (as required by the Phase One rules) with blue tape.  The side areas of the sanctuary are open and available for individual seating.

We will do what we can given the need to practice social distancing.  This means that the service will be modified and abbreviated.

Copies of the Bulletin will not be printed; the Bulletin will be projected on the front screen.  There will be a praise song, an opening hymn and a closing hymn, with the words projected so that hymnals do not need to be handled.  The offering plates will not be passed; we ask that tithes and offerings be dropped into the offering plates at the front of the Church before or after the service.  There will be no choral anthem.

Children are always welcome at Stanley Baptist, however, during this period of time we are suspending nursery services and ask that all children sit with their parents. In addition to this, we will not have children’s church for the unforeseen future and ask that you help your children in practicing social distancing during our reopening phases.

At this time we are not offering Sunday School.  It will be offered as soon as we are able to do so.

COVID-19 Phase 2 Reopening Plan

COVID-19 Phase 3 Reopening Plan

COVID-19 Phase 1 Reopening Plan

Stanley Baptist Church Reopening Phase 2 will not change any of our services at this time. We will continue to provide in-person worship at 11 AM and online worship at 10 AM. We have decided NOT to move forward with in-person Sunday school at this time. Once we have a better plan for how Sunday school will look for Stanley Baptist we will let you know in advance what that will look like.
